Many current solutions in the literature suffer from lack of control of oxygen delivery. Oxygen supplied from an external source limits the mobility of the patient and the accessibility of treatment. In the few solutions from the literature that provide self producing oxygen sources, much of the release characteristics are burst releases that plateau after 1-3 days. In addition, these self producing oxygen mechanisms are not tailored to the clinical need that we are addressing with our design. This newly proposed design incorporates a more sustained, temporal release by modifying the properties of the PLGA microspheres. Additionally, the electrospun structure allows for increased exudate flow, better handling, and better shelf life.
